How can I keep myself and my family safe?

How can I keep myself and my family safe?

Keep doing all of the things you have been doing to stay safe.
  • Do not gather with people you do not live with.
  • Avoid crowds.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Do not go out if you have been with someone who is sick.
  • Wear a face covering.
  • Keep at least 6 feet away from others outside your family.
  • Wash hands often.
  • Use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not possible.
  • Stay outdoors if possible.
  • Do as many things as you can to keep yourself and your family safe. This will help reduce the spread of the disease.

What are my chances of getting COVID-19?

It is best to avoid seeing people you do not live with. But if you need to see others, your chance of getting the virus is higher if:

  • You see and visit a lot of people like at a party, wedding, or barbeque.
  • The people you are with are not staying 6 feet away and not wearing face coverings.
  • You spend a long time with others.
  • You are indoors. It is best to visit with others outside. You still need to wear a face covering and stay 6 feet away.

Who is most at risk for COVID-19?

Some people have a higher chance of getting the disease and needing hospital care.

  • People who are 65 years and older.
  • People who have chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, and cancer.
  • Seniors and persons who have chronic conditions are still advised to stay at home. They should go out only if really needed. Ask friends and family to get what you need.
What to do if I need emergency care?
  • Go to the ER! Do not delay care due to COVID-19 fear. Hospitals are keeping COVID-19 patients away from all other patients.
  • Call your doctor if it is not an emergency and you need medical care. Your doctor and your care team are here for you.
Did you lose your employer health insurance due to COVID-19?
